The Seneca Buffalo Creek is a type of casino located in Salamanca, New York, near the Canadian border. The Seneca Nation has a long history dating back to the 18th century, when they were Seneca Buffalo Creek forcibly removed from their ancestral lands in Pennsylvania to present-day western New York. In the early 1990s, the Seneca Nation negotiated a compact with New York Governor Mario Cuomo that allowed them to operate four off-reservation casinos: the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino (SBC), Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino (SNRC), Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino (SAWC), and Seneca Iroquois National Golf Club.
The SBC, which opened in 2002, is a 1 million square foot casino complex featuring over 3,000 slot machines and electronic table games. It also offers live poker tournaments, blackjack tables, craps, roulette, and keno.

The Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino operates under New York State gaming laws and regulations set forth by the state’s Gaming Commission. The SBC is one of two Class III (Commercial) casinos operated in the United States; it holds a commercial license issued by New York State in 1993, allowing for Class III games.
